The Starlight Gala: With goals of raising money for the American Cancer Society and introducing young professionals to philanthropy, the Starlight Gala was established in 1996. Comprised of Houston's brightest young leaders, these young philanthropists give back to the community in a big way.
This past May marked the American Cancer Society’s 15th Annual Starlight Gala. The American Cancer Society is the official sponsor of Birthdays- and in honor of celebrating the Gala’s 15th birthday, this year’s theme, “La Dolce Vita,” reflected on creating a world with more birthdays, one sweet life at a time. This year’s black-tie event was held at the Crystal Ballroom at The Rice on Saturday, May 8, 2010. The Starlight Gala is an event that presents the opportunity for young professionals to get involved with philanthropy in the Houston community while raising money for the American Cancer Society.
“La Dolce Vita” is the celebration of each sweet life that is saved, and each year that brings another birthday for those affected by cancer. In the past 14 years the Starlight Gala has raised over $1.4 million for cancer research, education, advocacy and patient services.
2009 was Core Services 6th year as a corporate Sponsor. This event has been near and dear to Core Service's CEO, Jim Bistis, who has been attending this event since his childhood, like many of Core's local employees.
