Subject : 100% Positive Performance at Core Services Data Center.
As you all know, the largest power
outage ever in North America occurred on Thursday, August 14th.
This event has given all executives (especially in IT) a ruthless
reminder that disaster recovery and business security are no longer
options. They truly have become top priorities. The recent blackout
paralyzed commerce throughout much of the Northeast and Midwest
on Thursday, stranding airline passengers, idling factories and
costing retailers millions in lost sales.
At approximately 4:20 pm on Thursday
August 14th, the rolling blackouts began to affect the Northeastern
United States where Core Service’s data centers are located.
Simultaneously, rolling and total blackouts affected major cities
in Canada and 8 States in the US. In just three minutes, 21 power
plants shut down, and 9,300 square miles in both the US and Canada
were without power.
This situation has proved once
again how incredibly important it is to have your Oracle applications
and your business protected @Core Services. Core’s data
centers continued running through out the entire rolling blackouts
in NJ, without any disruption of service to a single customer.
Between the diesel generators and Core’s power infrastructure
provided uninterruptible power supply (UPS), Core’s Data
Centers survived and thrived.
A blackout of this magnitude may
have overwhelmed many companies’ efforts at contingency
plans and disaster recovery plans since September 11, 2001. We
are pleased that your company is hosting with Core Services. And
we are proud that Core was able to provide you the highest level
of service possible on what might be called one of the most challenging
business days for many Americans.
Thank you for your continued business.
Sincerely,
James T. Bistis
President & Chief Executive Officer
